Wine Mop 3

Hi All, One of my favourite moths 2469 The Herald has been a feature of this weeks mothing. First of all on Wednesday night on appeared in my light trap and then this thursday the Wine Mop came up trumps! Two late night visitors (no other moths) but compared to the moths attracted to the two light rtraps we were running nearby, these two were the stars of the show. Unfortunately my camera is not sophisticated enough to get a proper flash shot but you can see the ghostly silouettes above and two pics of my midweek visitor. Win

Wow! Those are seriously over exposed moths Win. Are you sure your camera's flash didn't just vapourise them and leave you with an after image?

Interesting pic though and keep up the good work.

Yes, it is wierd isnt it. could it be that the scales have reflected the flash as the mop seems to be exposed ok?

Just shows its worth persevering with sugar as it can pick up other species that dont respond to light as much ie like in this case 2 Heralds to wine mop but non to 2 lights ! as there is no flash power reduction on your camera Win,you could try loosely sticking a bit of kitchen roll over your cameras flash to diffuse it.a bit faffy i know but it works .or step back a bit and use a bit of zoom.regards Bri
