I have had the trap out for the last 3 nights down here in Hebden Bridge in the hope of either 1) Canary-shouldered Thorn 2) Frosted Orange or 3) Sallow sp. with the following results

26 Sept - 2 Caddis flies :-(

27 Sept -
Common Marbled Carpet 1
Large Yellow Underwing 1 :-(

28 Sept -
Large Yellow Underwing 5
Ypsolopha sequella 1
Canary-shouldered Thorn 1 :-)

Hi all,tried a 3 hour session with mv,in mainly birch,12 sp macro 4 sp micros,flounced chestnut 9,autumn green carpet,2 green ,7 red green,19 banded form and 17 dark form of common marbled,9 chestnut,straw dot,2 square spot rustic,2 pink barred sallow,pale/nov moth agg,3 autumnal rustic,large y underwing,905 blastodacna hellerella,2 465 plutella porrectella and eudonia mercurella type ?

Two moths! Yep, just two individuals a Large Yellow Underwing and a Black Rustic.

Barred Sallow

Another good night in Northowram which was a bit of a suprise as it was GMS night which is generally the worst night of the week.??Barred Sallow,Red Line Quaker ,Autumn Green(1),Red Green(3)Common Marbled(4)Spruce(1) and Garden(1) carpets
Black rustic(5)Silver Y(1)Garden Rose Tortrix(4) and Light Brown Apple Moth(1).

Frosted orange

An excellent year for Frosted orange and last night was my 10th of the year including 3 on the 17th .17 Black rustics so far and also good numbers this week of Silver Y,Autumnal and Rosy rustics ,Lunar Underwing,Red Green and Common Marbled carpets.1 Brown Spot Pinion and a lot of Garden rose tortix/Light Brown apple Moth.

Keep a close eye on all Common Marbled carpets for this one above they look very similar.Found this in the trap today along with 7 CMCarpets.

It has four distinctive white spots. Any ideas ??

Any one ot any idedas on this one a large dark Noctuid caught at light on thursday night wing 22m,I pretty sure its not a Square Spot Rustic as its too big,???

Can someone tell me if this is a sallow or pink barred sallow (it looks like a hybrid betwwen the 2 pics in my book). Despite looking distinctive, I couldn't find the other one.

A good selection of moths last night included Black Rustic,Brown spot Pinion,Lunar Underwing,Frosted Orange,Spruce carpet,Set heb Character,LYU and Lesser YU.
NMN is at Withens Clough car park meet 8.30 onwards,I amy be a bit late will be there def by 9.30.Trying to send lamp with someone else to set up.
Records ..please could you send any records to me for this year,stating Date,Site(with grid ref if poss)Name of moth and how many.Please dont lump records ie 159 Large Yellow Underwing in August.The more accurate the better.I will put all these records on Mapmate and then send them to the Yorkshire recorder.The Butterfly consevation web site uses these records to add to there excellent distribution maps which can be viewed at the BC web site.
