Hi All, Wandering on Cock Hill Moor yesterday saw lots of Common Heath and about 30 Green Hairstreak, these two enjoying the sun. Also saw what I think is a wild violet. Can anyone confirm? Win

Looks like Dog violet maybe...keep an eye on that area for DG frtillarys...
Hi Andy found out its a Marsh Violet, Viola palustris. There were very few around, beautiful thing and unlike moths kept still for its photo.
Was going to say Winston,if you had a pic of the leaves they are quite disinctive ,that is a foodplant of Dk Green Frits as Andy mentions !
Marsh Violet and Dog (?) Violet were in flower at Sheddon Clough on Monday. No Frits on the wing though. I went specifically to get pics of the food plant and got some video of Green Hairstreaks whilst up there.
Must check this site later in the year for DGFs.
