Spent an hour collecting Cinnabar larvae today out of a horse field as the farmer has started chopping all the Ragwort down,. Moved them to a safe place and it is looking like a good year for them at last...Today I had a lot of Small and large Whites looks like a large emergence over the weekend. Plenty Meadow Brown , Small Tortoiseshell , Ringlets and Small Skippers still about and my first Small Copper this year on my patch. A pristine Peacock and Red Admiral were the first larger butterflys for a while. A couple of Purple Hairstreaks high in the canopy and the odd Speckled Wood and Small Heath made for a good day.
