Happy new year

So here we are again,in the quiet of winter.I am planning a trip to hardcastle Craggs tomorrow evening sat,to look for Spring Usher etc...will be there from 4.30 till 7 latest.All the best for the year ahead..........A couple of hours tree searching with torches produced nothing but 2 yellow spot ladybirds and a few spiders...Next week going up langfield common looking for anomalouse larvae..
Some Highlights of 2011 were
Devon Carpets  86 recorded at Hardcastle Craggs only a handful of yorkshire records from one other site..
Pine Carpet ,Buff Footman and Grass Rivulet first calderdale records  from Hardcastle Craggs
Southern wainscot..32 in one night
Silky wainscot....28 same night as southerns.
Golden Rod Brindle at Luddenden Village light trap
Humming Bird Hawkmoth beeding in Charlies garden
Fox Moth to light at Hardcastle Craggs along with dark form of Northern eggar,and eventually finding female Winter moths and sorting out Nov aggs at last..........This year 2012 we will be consentrating our efforts around Cromwell Bottom....Allthe best Andy

86 Devon Carpet, that's amazing! The only other site is near Kilburn in VC62, with one record 22 Aug 2009, two on 11 Sep 2010, and despite trapping at the site three times during this period in 2011 no more were caught.

It was truly amazing some nights it was the most common geomtrid.There must be 100's of them in that one field.There must be other places in Yorkshire where they breed.
Looks like you had a very good year as well Grampy with all sorts of great finds..all the best for 2012

Hi Andy
I meant to ask what the split was between May/June generation and August/September. Do you have a breakdown?

in spring we had 13 individuals between 7th may amd 3 rd june
and the second brood was from the 30th July to 11th Sep 73 in total with an amazing 30 on the 13th august.
