More Bagworms ( Lichen Case - bearer.... Dahlica lichenella... ?? )

Had a walk with Charlie today looking for more Bagworms. The area we covered in Stainland was about a mile long with dry stone walls to either side of the path, The walls were covered in various Lichens and mosses indicating very good air quality . We found 6 cases 4 were of the pale green type,   1 was black and white and the first one we found was black / dark. It is a hard job to concentrate for long periods so we were pleased that the final score was 3 - 3 .

We reckon we found just a tiny percent of the bagworm cases present bearing in mind all the nooks and crannies and inaccessible sides and internal cavities of the walls.
I now have a further six cases to rear through, five of unknown occupancy and one still with an active larva on board.
For once I'm hoping for one of the more common (winged) species to emerge - can't wait for the results!

Great Work it underpins the need for maintaining dry stone walls for Lichens & Moth Diversity and the very excellent finds they support

We'll have to have a re-match at Broadhead Clough or Jumble Hole in a month's time.
Or if someone else knows of a good lichen/algae site we could search.........
