Hardcastle Crags National Moth Night 12th September 2015

Harcastle Crags
A good night for NAt Moth night produced  27 species plus one to id (photos below).The highlight were the Devon Carpet and the variety of Dark Marbled Carpets with at least 4 colour forms of this scarce species. One with red spots ( col did you get a pic of that one.) The Caddis was good to get a positive id (Colin)

Other Entomology  Present from the Caddis Club was none other than Caddidfly, Agrypnia varia AKA Speckled Peter, this distinguished black and white Caddis had almost momentarily sneaked into Andys Moth Notebook until "Spotted"  by Brian. A number of Craneflies also presented
Sexton Beetle Nicrophorus humator as well as othe smal Ground Beetles

The First Moth is a Small Micro. Patternning and colour was evident with difficulty it had a whitish head and mauve colour ,  rolled wings with an edge pattern just evident A possible 1261 Codling Moth Cydia pomonella  ABH 49.338
