Ghost Moth displaying.........

There were upto 140 male Ghost moths last night at Northowram with 5 females flying between the lekking males.There were 15 males together at one point .I have collected some eggs from a female, when I looked at them this morning they were all white but this afternoon most had turned black.??anyboby know why.?

same thing happened to me Andy, the eggs turned black

it says in Caterpillars of British Moths that this is normal

trouble is the cats feed on the roots of plants, I'm going to try mine in a plant pot

I have an old fish tank which I am going to plant a coulp of dandilion in ,i have about 300 eggs now.??which book are you reading.??

Andy, you do know that they overwinter twice before pupating?

Andy it's the Caterpillars Of British Moths by W.J .STOKOE (1948) in two volumes, pretty good they are
