Andy, you may very well be correct with your ID but I was wondering where you look up flight times.UK moths info is occasionally out of date and or wrong.Mike Wall's Hants Moth site is I think more reliable and the text has recently been updated:
http://www.hantsmoths.org.uk/species/0458.php
It shows Y. alpella to fly in numbers in to September.Hope this helps.
I used Manley british Moths and Paul Ts records of this species in sept and October.I may have to send it to harry to be sure..
I've got some ready for Harry as well. Probably wait until mid-winter before sending them.
Crikey, the weather's not even fit for leaf mining today :-(
Hi Andy
Harry would not accept my records until I sent him a couple of specimens to comfirm. I had more sylvella in one year than had been previously recorded in Yorkshire in total. Harry was very dubious (and rightly so)about the records till he saw I had been ID.ing them correctly.
