Survey Day - Cold Edge

Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey in the Cold Edge/Ovenden Moor area today doing Transects.
I was a bit surprised there were fewer butterflies about than I expected on such a hot, sunny and calm day.
15 Small Heaths were the most common species
6 Meadow Brown
1 Large Skipper
1 Small White

A few moths in among
3 Silver-ground Carpet
1 Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet
9+ Garden Grass-veneer

1 Broad-bodied Chaser - a very obliging individual seen by the pond at the western end of Skirden Clough - also 5 Large Red Damselfly there as well
