Beginner's naive questions.

Are these both Meadow Browns and is the moth a Silver Ground Carpet? Any recommendations for species guides would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Andy..am I missing something here as both the butterfly shots appear to show Meadow Brown to me ? Is there a photo missing, I see two meadow browns and a silver ground carpet.

The best beginners moth guide is "Concise Guide to Moths of Great Britain and Ireland" ISBN 9780953139965.....priced at £12.95

Hi Andy
I had my beer hangover as well this morning which why I checked I was not missing something ! My hangover was caused by my drowing my sorrows at England winning and having at least another week of the "boring cup" to endure, thank god its only once every four years !

Ah looks like I was right in my initial observations. The upper wings took some seeing in the field. All the pics I saw on the web showed only the underwings.
Thanks for confirming the moth Paul, and the book recommend.
Cheers both.
