Bit of a surprise this morning given the gloomy conditions but this cracking male Red-veined Darter was present at the bottom of the North Slope on Soil Hill. I can't imagine there have been many records of this scarce migrant species up here among the Pennines and it certainly gave me a start when it landed. As you can see, its a bit of a tatty individual, very docile and could not fly particularly well, so chances are it will hang around for those interested.

An excellent addition to the Calderdale list ,,great find in such damp conditions....Careful not to stray onto the main track which contains some heavy duty traffic...thanks
What a great find, especially in such poor conditions. Nice photos too Daniel
