Northowram today was pretty busy with many Small Tortoiseshell (50+) and Meadow Brown (50 +) ,also about Large Skipper x 3 , Red Admiral 4 , Large White x 2 ,Ringlet x 5 and the first White letter hairstreak of the year...

Lots of Small Tort's and Meadow Browns along Ogden Back Lane this afternoon plus a Red Admiral but not a lot else.
....and a few Ringlets plus one in the garden at home. Need to get back to some longer spells of sunshine. Nice to get W L Hairstreak Andy. I've been checking the Oaks at home for Purple Hairstreaks this afternoon but it was very windy, nothing doing yet !
I had WLH here last year. (Understandably because there's 100+ elm trees here) they are very pretty butterflies.
Surprised to see one small tortoiseshell flying on the street today. It was windy, grey, damp and cool. A hardy beast!
