News from Todmorden,10 07 09


Hi all,just found this argyresthia retinella,not so sure whether its typical habitat, Morrisons !! though there are some birch nearby,all the best Bri.

Hi Bri,not a moth I knew about until the last couple of weeks until singles on consecutive visits to N.Dean (lots of Birch there).A wonderful little group the argyresthias - some real stunners in amongst!

Yes,you are right there Charlie,like tiny metallic jewels,its hard to describe when seen close up ! hows your phyllo quest going ? found a few mines on field maple,that look interesting.are you familiar with p acerifoliella ?

Not really Bri, but then again I'm not really familiar with wild maples, only the ones in parks and avenues etc.If you think they're occupied just bung the leaves in an airtight jar letting the moisture out and fresh air in for a couple of minutes every day and see what pops out. It looks a cracking adult.
